My tennis coach found this in his house a while ago and gave it to me today as a gift. An original '69 Pontiac owner's manual in great shape! No tears, watermarks or bends whatsoever! :D

Kinja'd!!!

It covers every Pontiac car for the '69 model year I believe. Including transmissions:

I found the original sales brochure for the 2002 Aston Martin Vanquish while cleaning out my bookshelf last month. It's actually a hardcover "book" of sorts. Very neat, no idea how I got it.

Kinja'd!!!

Not actual SR20, but it is similar to this.

Very strange. Before this, I had a Fujitsu a year ago, we got these fall '14 as a replacement. Unfortunately they've got Windows 8, but I don't see 7 being effective on a touch screen.

such a crazy pattern on that cover for the subject. Interesting that the one spread is on yellow stock. Any others pages with that or just that one? Graphic design mentality kicked in there. Very cool gift!

So how's it going this week. Anything new and exciting happening? The weather, cars, news, anything really. New year treating you well I hope.

Just those two pages are yellow, the rest are typical paper colored.

Everything has gone very well this week. As far as new things, well the grandkids are all back at college or high school, the wife and I went for a nice long drive yesterday, and the weather has been a bit cold but not terrible. However, next week will definitely be busy at work.

How have you been?

Very nice.

Still doing school things, saving up my money for 944 repairs in March as best as I can. I'm now beginning to understand the costs of owning a sports car. I mean I knew what to expect, but wow when you need to get parts and stuff, ya just keep looking back and forth at the bank account and whatnot haha. Makes me feel a bit rich at times even though I'm very far from it. :p

I just bought an Aventador tonight and twin turbocharged it and did a RWD conversion on it for fun reasons, in Forza 4.

Unfortunately, I do know the feeling. Has your 944 been fairly reliable before this though?

Haha. I started reading this and thinking did he buy an Aventador and send it to Underground Racing? How does it drive now? I can imagine that it is quite difficult to control.

Well I've only had it in my possession since October(as in time of driving it and such) and it's always been reliable. I did buy the car with very little in the way of maintenance records, a 944 no-no if you want to buy one; but I trust the previous owner so much, as he pointed out every single defect, blemish, and current issue just like an engineer would; and that was more than enough for me to believe his words and not really bother with service papers and such. The only known issues prior were worn shocks and a leaking cam tower gasket. The car is still completely driveable. The only issue now is that something around my water pump is leaking coolant, so I've decided to change the timing and balance shaft belts and rollers, water pump, and do a coolant flush and oil and trans fluid change in March for the sake of preventative maintenance and peace of mind.

Ah Underground Racing. There are a couple Underground Gallardos around my area here, a white one, and orange one, and potentially a black one well, but I'm not sure if it's stock or not. It's a known fact the other two are putting out over 1,000hp though.

It's actually a nightmare to drive and I'm going to make it AWD again because of the lack of confidence at the apex. The A.I. is doing an excellent job though. :p

That sounds like a very smart plan. Preventative maintenance is always a good idea with older cars like yours.

I'm wondering, do you plan on keeping the 944 and passing it on to your kids or just keeping it until you can afford a different Porsche or have you not planned that far ahead yet?

Wow. I can't imagine how full throttle must feel in one of those. Have you ever heard them in person?

Haha just as I suspected.

I'm keeping this car forever. I made a promise to myself I'd keep my first car, the Astra, that failed; but I also made a promise to myself I'd keep the first Porsche I ever buy, this will always be that car. The ST will be traded in or sold for the next Porsche whenever that will be, or Mustang, I'm not sure what I'll go with next.

The problem is now that 911s are all going turbo charged, naturally aspirated ones will go up in price rather than depreciate. It's almost as if it's a buy it now while they're cheap mentality now it seems. 991 owners and me(the non-991 owner) are debating the topic heavily on rennlist and no one likes what's going on at all.

It's such a worry to me, these price rises in the used market, that even the 996 is looking pretty good to me right now; I mean sure, 70-100k miles, but for under $25k, there isn't gonna be a better deal seeing as they're basically at the very bottom of their depreciation curve now. :(

I've seen only three as they drove past my work and while I sat at the dream cruise last summer. Made me feel so poor and like such a plebe just sitting around watching people with green in bushels enjoying the summer as I sit watching Top Gear in a retail store. -_-

Full throttle was alright, but it wasn't exciting to me. It could be better, but I can't tune cars in this game.

That's great to hear. I'm sure it will provide you with many wonderful memories.

It will definitely be fascinating to see how all of this works out. Predicting values can be difficult but I agree that the N/A cars will probably go up in value. I'm wondering though, do you think the next generation GT3s will be forced induction also?

Interesting point you bring up about high mileage 996s. Do you know at what mileage range you need to rebuild the engine?

I can imagine they were quite the site. However, don't get down about that. You seem like a smart young man, so I'm confident that you'll get to a comfortable financial state like them if you just stay focused. Use things like that as your motivation to keep working hard.

Oh.

The next GT3 has been confirmed to be N/A, the one after that, most likely not.

I'm not entirely sure what mileage the engines need a rebuilding at, but the only thing that would concern me upfront would be the obvious IMS/RMS stuff. If I had the money though, I'd probably just have it rebuilt upon purchase.

Here are the Aventadors and a few others from last year:

Very interesting. I'm sure whatever model has the very last N/A motor will be extremely valuable.

That's probably the best solution. Better to have peace of mind than constant worry.

Wow. Great photos. However, those aerodynamic pieces on the 458 sure do make them look like a catfish.
